LIBERTY — It is hard to imagine the narrow stream behind the General Store here in the headwaters of the Grand River was once part of the “deepest and most important rivers in North America.” That would have been 14,000 years ago, in the time of melting glaciers, according to Douglas author Kit Lane, who wrote “The Grand,” a book that traces the river’s history.   more...
